The Broadcast Legacy Programme’s Vignette Competition was held for Indonesian students to promote the 18th Asian Games Jakarta Palembang 2018.

Competition History

The competition ran in five phases from December 2017 to May 2018. The registration for the competition is now closed and the winners have been announced.

Phase 1: 8 December 2017 to 20 February 2018 (56 groups)

The students submitted original synopsis of their 30-second video about 18th Asian Games Jakarta Palembang 2018. After review, 54 groups were selected and progressed to the next phase of this competition.

Phase 2: 5 March 2018 to 9 March 2018 (54 groups)

IGBS Senior Producer, David White had one to one progression meeting or video calls with the selected groups thereby giving them the opportunity to present their ideas and render advice to move ahead with their production. 30 groups were shortlisted and instructed to produce their vignette.

Phase 3: 14 March 2018 to 30 March 2018 (30 groups)

During these two weeks, the students filmed and edited the first cut of their 30-second vignette.

Phase 4:  2 April 2018 to 6 May 2018 (from 30 to 19 groups)

David White discussed the first cut prepared by the respective groups. The students were asked to fine-tune their videos and upload the final cuts.  19 groups were selected for the final phase.

Phase 5: 23 April 2018 to 11 May 2018 (from 19 to 12 groups)

David White and the senior IGBS editor reviewed the uploaded videos and 12 groups were selected.

The final 12 vignette clips will be available for the broadcasters of the 18th Asian Games Jakarta Palembang 2018 to use. The winners will be attending a two-day short film-making course at the National Film and Television School (NFTS) and touring several production houses in London as the grand prize.

Premiere Night to screen the winners of the competition to a private audience.

INASGOC and IGBS premiered the video clips of the 12 finalists at a special awards ceremony held at the Jakarta Conference Centre.
